Daylesford Community Brass Band
Proudly serving the Daylesford community for over 150 years.
About Us
Brass banding in Daylesford has a long history, with the first band being formed in 1862. Since then there have been many iterations of the band, the most recent being the formation of the current band (originally known as the Daylesford Municipal Brass Band) in 1962. Now known as the Daylesford Community Brass Band, we have been proudly providing entertainment and musical education around the Daylesford area since.
Current members range in age from early twenties to their eighties. Banding frequently becomes a life-long passion, and several members have been with us for more than 50 years. We are very much a family band, with partners, children and parents joining to share the joy of music making.
With our 160 year history in this community the band is much loved and a feature at all key public events from street parades to annual war commemoration services, Christmas, Town Hall themed events and much more. This relationship with the public drives the band’s commitment to performing and honours its long commitment to our community.

Join us
The band rehearses each Monday evening at 7:30pm. We welcome players of all ages and abilities, and our current members range from teenagers to octogenerians, but we are definitely looking for more younger members (they have a habit of going off to uni … or work … or somewhere else).
If you have a brass instrument tucked away in a cupboard (or if you’re thinking about learning how to play) please get in touch via the form below – we’d love to hear from you.
Donate to the band
During this time of social distancing, the band has been meeting virtually to create a series of recordings for our local community. But the lack of public gatherings has meant that we are unable to generate funds in the usual way via concerts. If you would like to support the Band, donations will be gratefully accepted.
We are a registered charity.
